California beaches are some of the greatest beaches in the world. With more than 200 square miles of sandy shorelines within the Los Angeles area acting mostly as public space, there is plenty of room for exploration. The project goal is to examine the beaches of Los Angeles and discover a new form of beach pavilion that could accommodate the people within the neighboring areas. The site that I chose was Pelican Cove, located within the Palos Verdes Peninsula area. I found that this area had an abundance of potential which gave me a greater opportunity to expand my design capability as it was not the ordinary, California “sandy” beach, but a cliff beach with steep, rocky slopes showing the beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean.
