Indian Bend Wash Revitalization

Project Type: Watershed Design

Location: Scottsdale, Arizona

School: Arizona State University

Professor: Kristian Kelley

Semester: Spring 2014

A redesign of the Indian Bend Wash, this project’s main objective is creating a healthier environment and community. Enhancing the ecology is the main focus of this revitalization as a new sustainable use of green engineering helps the site strive with both wildlife and habitat environments. A use of terraces embraces the natural flow of water, slowing the movement of the hydrology while spreading and soaking the water over time. Simultaneously, the design also acts as a filter system to naturally recharge the water table. This design system enhances the ecology of the Indian Bend Wash as it provides a cleaner and healthier environment that enhances both beauty and aesthetics to the community.
