Harmonics

Project Type: Art Gallery

Location: Los Angeles, California

School: University of Southern California

Professor: Victor Jones

Semester: Fall 2014

Exploring space and program, Harmonics entailed developing an art gallery space on Gallery Row in Downtown Los Angeles to celebrate arts and tourism. This project was unique as the goal was to design a space for a mixed program development that was primarily for a gallery; yet, it also contained retail space such as a café, offices, a reception and seating area. Using the theme of harmonics and the movement of sound to create space, the main piece of the project is two distinctive wave-shaped walls that simulate the resonating action of movement. These pieces generate the development within this multi program space while also acting as an art installation within itself.
